Services: Frequently Asked Questions ?

HAIR

Q: Do you offer consultations?

A: Oui! We love to meet our clients, find out what their hair goals are and how we can reach those goals together. This is free of charge.

Q: What services include a blowout?

A: Haircuts include wash and a blow dry, color services do not. A blowout must be booked separately.

Q: What is balayage?

A: Balayage means “sweep” in French. It allows for creating a soft, natural look. It can also be called a “freehand technique” because no foil or meche are used to create the highlights.

Q: What is single process coloring?

A: A single process color is applying a new pigment or tone of color all over the hair. Usually done when coloring grey hairs.

Q: What is a double process coloring?

A: Double Process is lightening hair by more than two shades. First the hair is bleached to remove natural or colored hair pigments, and then pigment is added into the hair to create your desired shade.

Q: What is Keratin?

A: Keratin is a protein found naturally in skin, hair and nails, in addition to other sources. In human hair, it acts both as an external protective shield and an internal structural protein. Keratin is the first thing depleted when hair is damaged physically, chemically or from environmental factors such as the sun.

Q: What does Keratin do?

A: When used in product formulations, keratin helps condition, strengthen, revitalize and repair damage. Keratin eliminates frizz, gives the hair shine, elasticity and a more youthful, healthy appearance. We use Brazilian Blowout products for this service.

Q: What is a gloss treatment?

A: Gloss is a clear, colorless process that adds shine, softness and vibrancy to the hair. It works by filling in any damaged parts on the hair shaft and seals your hair’s outer layer, making it smoother. It lasts about six to eight weeks and has a very low ammonia content.

BRIDAL

Q: Do you offer updo hairstyles?

A: Yes, we have a number of French experts who specialize in styling services like haute couture chignons, updos, and wedding hair styling.

Q: Should I wash my hair before getting an updo?

A: No. Washing the hair strips away its natural oils. When creating an updo, the natural oils in the hair give it better holding properties and make it easier to work with.

Q: Will you do a trial run with me before my wedding?

Yes, we suggest coming in to consult with a stylist beforehand. You can bring photos of a preferred look, veil/accessories, and from there we can do a trial run of the hairstyle.

Q: Do your wedding hairstylists know how to work with different hair types?

A: Yes we have experience with different textures of hair whether it’s straight or curly, short or long, we can find a style that’s right for you.

Q: Do you work with hair extensions?

A: We do work with extensions, however we don’t provide the hair. This would be another type of accessory to bring along if you’re inclined to use them.

Q: Do you provide makeup services?

A: Yes, we do! We work with a variety of makeup brands.

NAILS

Q: What is the difference between gel and shellac manicures/pedicure?

A: A gel manicure and a Shellac manicure are essentially the same thing: long-lasting polishes cured under UV lamps. The difference is that "gel nails" or "manicure" is the generic term for nails done under a UV lamp, while Shellac is a brand of gel nails by the company Creative Nail Design (CND).

Q: Does gel polish ruin your nails?

A: Gel polish itself doesn’t ruin your nails, but improper removal can definitely ruin your nails. We offer removal for $15.

Q: What is a French manicure/pedicure?

A: A traditional French Manicure is a nail style with white polish or paint is applied to the free edge to make it look whiter than normal, and a baby pink, beige or peach polish is applied over the whole nail to give the rest of the nail a healthy look.

Q: What is a paraffin manicure/pedicure?

A: A paraffin manicure is a beauty treatment for the hands that combines nail polishing and buffing with skin softening and moisturizing. The entire hand is dipped in paraffin wax, either before or after the nails are polished, in order to seal in softness and moisture. The wax is usually left on the skin for some time, usually between five minutes and half an hour.
