Curl Crush

Curl Crush

The hair stylist behind these gorgeous curls - set to appear in the Italian edition of Elle Magazine - is Marie Lou & D’s very own Creative Director Leon Gorman. If this shot evokes serious curl envy (we can’t blame you), Leon says protect against the humidity frizz factor in summer and show off controlled curls by using the right styling product for your hair. “Wavy hair can create great shape with a curl cream like Kerastase Oléo-Cream which is moisturizing but lightweight. To keep tighter curls in check, use a mousse like Shu Uemura Kaze Wave.” To create curls, get to work with a small curling iron or wand. “Use a setting spray then wrap sections in alternating directions for a natural looking curl. Let the hair cool then shake out from the root and lock things in with a humidity resistant hairspray.” Feeling adventurous? Leon recommends going for a salon perm (yep, they’re back baby) for that free flowing beachy look all year round.

Beauty tip:  A sexy red lip

A bold red lip is an instant ticket to glamour. Just ask Lena Durham who has penned an essay for Vogue on the power and allure of red lipstick.  Yes, we can rock a red lip and still be feminists.  And against glowing summer skin this look is sizzling.

Wedding Fever

Following in the beautiful footsteps of new brides Pippa Middleton and Miranda Kerr, Jessica Chastain has married her long-term partner in a 17th century villa in Italy (as one does). The actress was gorgeous in a custom strapless embroidered and lace with corseted bodice dress by former Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisc.
